Sculptra After Care

Sculptra Cheshire

The following Sculptra care advice is recommended for all of Dr Teri Johnson’s patients.

After Sculptra Treatment:

Most people are able to continue with normal activities and no downtime.

Redness, pin prick marks, slight tenderness and swelling is usually noticeable immediately after but this usually subsides after a few days.

Most people are comfortable with their appearance and are happy to leave the clinic and resume normal activities even shopping and going out for lunch.

Important Sculptra aftercare recommendations:

  • No Make-up for 24 hours to avoid the risk of infection.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before performing your massage.
  • Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, sunbathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 2 days post-treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong swelling.
  • It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment.

What side effects should I expect after Sculptra?

Bruising may occur, which can be visible immediately; however, it may not be apparent for a few days. Most bruises last only a few days, however sometimes they can last a week or more.

Should you experience bruising, Dr Teri can give you some bruise cream as part of your aftercare. Apply this every few hours to prevent a bruise from coming to the surface and to help the bruise go down quicker.

Do I need to massage after Sculptra?

Yes. Massage is a very important part of Sculptra aftercare. It ensures the even distribution of the product in the tissue and makes sure collagen production occurs evenly and not in clumps.

Massage for 5 minutes, 5 times a day over the first 5 days.

After this, massage twice daily for 5 minutes for 6 weeks.

When should I see results from Sculptra?

You should notice gradual results over the next several weeks. In general it takes approximately six weeks to see some affects and the effects continue to develop up to a year after treatment, sometimes even longer.
